Jenny Morris - EE Flat Tuba

Jen 1I first went to Amington Band in 1985 after playing for several years in Shire Oak School Band. Here I met Allan Morris (Jnr) and we married in 1987. The band were ”one big happy family” at this time nurturing the marriages of Brian and Sarah Morris, Helen and Steve Stretton, Terry-Anne and Rob Leeson, Sian and Andrew Bates and many more.  Playing at the 4th Section National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall in 1985 was certainly a highlight of my banding career.

I briefly ducked out of banding for a couple of months at the beginning of 1994 when our eldest daughter Stephanie (now Amington’s Principal Euphonium player) was born, but was back in my seat for Pontins when Steph was 3 weeks old. A memorable weekend for all –ask Ian Dawn, our Soprano player at that time!

I left Amington in 1995 as juggling a toddler, working and banding and having a banding husband all became a bit much. Emma arrived in 1997 and a couple of years later I joining Burton based “Force Ten”. Both girls decided that they wanted to play and Steph joined the band in 2006. I got asked to “help out” at the Area contest that year and got sucked back in to the family band. Playing in the Lichfield Garrick production of “Brassed Off” in 2010 was a fantastic experience which will take some beating. I left Amington briefly in 2013 to join Oddfellows Brass but came back at the beginning of 2014.
