Sarah Francis - Trombone

SF 1Sarah Francis started her musical career at the age of 8 playing the Euphonium. It soon became apparent that the Trombone was actually the instrument for Sarah, and she progressed on this gaining her Grade Eight at the age of 17. During this time Sarah was a member of Sandwell Youth Music, participating in the Sandwell Youth Brass Band, the Sandwell Youth Concert Band, the Sandwell Youth Orchestra and the Sandwell Youth Jazz Orchestra. It was during this time that Sarah first became a member of Amington Band.
At the age of 18, Sarah decided that she wanted to keep her trombone playing as a hobby rather than a career, and therefore accepted a place at the University of Derby to study Creative Expressive Therapies (Music). Upon graduating from the University of Derby, Sarah was offered a place at Birmingham City University to study towards her PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education). Sarah is currently a Primary School Teacher in Burton upon Trent.
Sarah has been a member of many bands over the years, competing at many different levels of banding, and has recently re-joined Amington Band and is looking forward to the future.
