Tony Barnett - Repiano Cornet

new cornet

I have been involved with brass bands from a very early age and started to play Tenor Horn with West Bromwich Silver Band as a young boy before moving on to play with Langley Band in my teens. I joined Amington Band in the 1980’s on the 1st Tenor Horn seat where we enjoyed contesting success, noteably in 1985 when we played in the National Finals at the Albert Hall. Certainly a day to remember!

I left banding entirely for a while in 1986, due to family commitments, but returned to playing with Rugeley Power Station Brass Band in 1987 and have played a variety of instruments for them; Cornet, Soprano cornet, Repiano, Solo Tenor Horn and currently Flugel.

As Rugeley is a non contesting band and wanting the challenge of playing with a contesting band, I returned to playing with Amington Band on 2nd Cornet in 2014.
